If you have never tried mad honey before, the most important thing is simple: start small and be patient. The effects can take 30 minutes to feel. People who take too much almost always did so because they didn't wait.
Before you start
Check whether you should be doing this at all. Do not take mad honey if: - You are pregnant or breastfeeding - You have heart conditions, low blood pressure, or arrhythmia - You take heart medications (beta blockers, calcium channel blockers, digoxin) - You are on blood thinners
If none of those apply, you are likely fine. But if you have any health conditions, talk to a doctor first.
The right setting
Mad honey is not something to take at a party or in an unfamiliar environment. The best first experience is: - At home, in a comfortable setting - With someone you trust nearby (at least for the first time) - With no obligations for the next 4β6 hours - Not combined with alcohol
The dose
Start with Β½ teaspoon (approximately 5 grams). This is the standard starting dose for our Medicinal and Potent Harvest grades. For the Rare Cliff Reserve, start with ΒΌ teaspoon.
Take it on an empty stomach or lightly fed β a full stomach slows and reduces absorption.
What to expect and when
- **0β30 min**: Nothing, or very subtle warmth
- **30β60 min**: Tingling in hands and feet, mild light-headedness, warmth spreading through the body
- **60β120 min**: Peak effects β relaxation, mild euphoria, possible sensitivity to light or sound
- **2β4 hours**: Gradual fade, most people feel pleasantly tired afterward
The experience varies significantly between people. Some feel it strongly at Β½ tsp. Others feel very little. Both are normal β grayanotoxin sensitivity is individual. Do not interpret a mild first experience as a reason to immediately take more.
If you take too much
Too much mad honey causes nausea, vomiting, low blood pressure, and a very slow heartbeat. You will feel unwell. The effects are temporary β typically resolving within 24 hours β but if symptoms are severe, seek medical attention. Tell the doctor it may be grayanotoxin ingestion.
The antidote in clinical settings is atropine, which doctors have used successfully to treat overdose cases.
On subsequent uses
After your first experience, you will have a sense of your own sensitivity. Adjust from there. Most regular users settle into a dose of Β½ to 1 teaspoon. Very few need or want more than that.
A dosage spoon calibrated to 5g is included with every order.
